Registration & race procedures
- In some instances, there may be a pre-series registration held in the week prior the race. Details of this will be posted on the specific event listing, where relevant.
- On the day of each race, registration will be open for you to collect your race number and sign the indemnity. Registration will close 30 minutes before the start of the long course. Please allow yourself enough time to get to the event and stand in the queue. It is your responsibility to arrive in time to find parking, walk from your car to the race start, and complete registration.
- If you pre-entered online, just go straight to the collection table which is sorted alphabetically by surnames, your number will be ready and waiting.
- Upgrades, downgrades, and substitutions need to be communicated to the registration manager four days before the race by emailing info@wildrunner.co.za. No one can race on your behalf.
- If you changed your entry before the race by email, just go straight to the collection table which is sorted alphabetically by surnames, your number will be ready and waiting. Please do not go to the on-the-day entry table.
- On the day of the race upgrades, downgrades and substitutions will only be allowed up until 45 minutes before the start of the long course on the day of the race.
- Please ensure you are running in a blue number if you’re doing the long course and in a red number if you’re doing the short course.
- A short briefing will be given on the route 5 minutes prior to the start of each race.
- Any race information relevant to that particular race will be given 5 minutes before the start.
- Detailed race directions are on each specific event listing.
- There will be NO cut-off time on the long and short courses, but prize-giving will be given once the top three in each category have finished. Some XL races do have a cut-off time. Please see the particular event listing for race-specific information.
Batching
- Batches are limited. Those who enter the Series in one go will get preference, thereafter it is on a first come first serve basis.
- The batch you choose at the first race you enter will remain the same for the remainder of the TSSL. No moving around between batches are allowed.
- If the batch you want to run in is full, you will have to choose a different batch to start in.
- If you start in a batch different from the one that you are allocated to, you may be disqualified. Please make sure you're on time for your start batch.
- Any exceptions to this will be at the discretion of the Race Director.
Route & safety
- The route will be marked but runners should familiarise themselves with the route beforehand as unforeseen circumstances may cause markers to be hard to see.
- There will not necessarily be marshals at road crossings. There will, however, be marshals at strategic places on the course for your safety.
- There is a race sweeper at each race that will run behind the last runner and clean the course.
- There will be medics at each race to deal with any serious injury.

- If you decide to withdraw at any stage during any one of the races, please inform the race organiser timeously.

- There will be toilets near/at the start/finish.
Medals, prizes & prize giving
- Medals will be given per race and for the overall TSSL.
- There are prizes for the top three runners over the line, the top three runners in the junior, minimee and peewee categories at each race and for all category winners in the overall TSSL (subject to the minimum 5 rule)
- Any runner found to be falsifying information to gain a competitive advantage (for example lying about age) will be disqualified.
- Prize giving will be done once all category prize runners have crossed the line.
- TSSL prize giving will be done at the final race of the TSSL. If you are in the running you need to be there to claim.
- You must be present to collect your prize or arrange to have someone collect it on your behalf, otherwise, your prize will be recycled as a spot prize.
- No prizes will be posted or kept aside to be collected at another time unless arranged directly with the registration manager on the day of the race, or in the case of the overall Series ahead of the final race.
- Spot prizes are called by race number, and you must have your number with you to claim your prize.
Official results and objections
- It is the responsibility of the runner taking part in any TSSL event to follow the course markers and thus the full and correct route. Any runner going wrong must return to the course at the point where he/she went wrong before continuing, any alternative to this shall be deemed a shortcut and that runner faces the possibility of disqualification (subject to appeal from another runner being received by the race director within 10 minutes of finishing).
- Time and position results will only count for those runners having completed the correct course as prepared by the TSSL organisers, subject to the discretion of the race director.
- In the event of a runner not following the full and correct route, and that this misdirection was found not to be by fault of the course marking, that runner shall be disqualified (subject to an appeal from another runner being received by the race director within 10 minutes of finishing).
- If an appeal is not received within 10 minutes of finishing, the results shall stand. Further corrections will be at the discretion of the race director.
- Those runners with a formal complaint can do so in writing to the race director by email to info@wildrunner.co.za. Complaints will be considered and any decision made will be in the best interests of the TSSL as a whole.
- Any runner found to be falsifying information to gain a competitive advantage (for example lying about age) will be disqualified.
- Disqualification of a runner will be at the sole discretion of the race director.
- All TSSL races are timed.
- Full race results will generally be posted the day after the race.
