Minimum of 5
There must be a minimum of 5 runners for a category to be recognised, either by race or in the TSSL. This includes every category scenario such as gender and juniors. If there are not enough to form a category then that category will fall away. For example if there are only 6 junior boys and 1 girl, there will only be one Junior category (mixed) and if the girl runs third in the junior race, she will be on podium. In another example: If there are only 3 grand master males, they will all fall into the Master Male category and place accordingly, likewise if there are only 2 grand master ladies, they would fall into the Master Ladies category.
Kids under 10
Kids under 10 year of age who have been pre entered can run for free. We strongly advise that kids under 10 run with their parent/guardian. Under six years of age we insist they do so.
A few important rules
- Any runner found to be falsifying information to gain a competitive advantage (for example lying about age) will be disqualified.
- Runners who are 17 years old will be entered into the JUNIOR category by default. However, they may choose to compete in the SENIOR category upon entering their first race by informing the organisers at registration.
- Peewees, minimees and juniors under the age of 17 are NOT allowed to compete in the Senior category.
- Veterans and masters will be entered into their specific age categories by default. However, they may choose to compete in the SENIOR category upon entering their first race by informing the organisers at registration. You will not be allowed to change your category after the race.
- No-one will be allowed to change to a different category during the Series, i.e. after running one race in a specific category. If you start off in the SENIOR category, you have to finish the Series in the same category.
- Age categories are determined by your age on the day of the first race that you run. If your birthday occurs during the Series you cannot choose to run one of the later races in an older category.
- JUNIOR category entry is subject to the indemnity being signed by a parent or guardian. No junior under the age of 17 will be allowed to enter the long route.
