Spur KZN Trail Series® wraps up at the beautiful Aloe Wildlife Estate

The final leg of the Spur KZN Trail Series® wrapped up at yet another brand new trail running venue in Camperdown, called Aloe Wildlife Estate.
Runners in both the shorter 6km and longer 12km routes were treated to bushveld views and glimpses of Zebra and Impala as they carefully navigated their way around the course. Rainfall the night before made conditions a little tricky, but the excited field of runners were unperturbed and took advantage of the cool weather.
In the long course we had a new winner, Nomore Mandivengerei, who participated in his first and only race of the series, in a time of 52:41. In second place was veteran triathlete Donovan Van Gelder in 53:36 and rounding off the podium after winning all 3 of the previous events in the series was Grant Cummings in 54:15.
In the ladies we saw the same story go down as the first two races with Puseletso Dladla comfortably ahead of Zoe Papadakis. In third place was Sarah Gunn in a time of 1:08:58.
In the short course it was the youngsters who flew out of the blocks, but Owen Bengo was back across the line first to ensure both a comfortable event and series win. Coming in just under 2min after 1st place was Jordan Johnson in a time of 32:02 and 30seconds behind him was Scot Arnold who finished 3rd in a time of 32:32.
Tate Stewart was the first lady home in the short course at only 14 years old. 2nd place in the ladies’ race was Sharon Geeson in a time of 39:07 and wrapping up the ladies’ short course podium over the line, right on Sharon’s heels was Hendrika Liebendberg coming in third in a time of 39:15.
This years’ Spur KZN Trail Series saw the numbers grow massively at each event and has been hailed a great success by both runners and organisers alike. The 2017 series will again be hosted in October at the same venues used in this year.
Thank you to all of you who came out to all the races to spend the mornings, and one evening out in the beautiful trails that KZN has to offer. Enjoy the rest of your trail running for 2016 and the holiday season coming up.

A big thank you and shout out to our sponsors and media partners Spur Steak Ranches, BOS Sport, Protea Hotels by Marriot, La Sportiva, Runnersworld.co.za and WWF.
