General

 GENERAL RACE ENTRY INFORMATION

 

ENTRY

  • You DO NOT NEED to be a member of an athletics club to compete in the Trail Series
  • Entries are limited to 800 solo entries on a first-come-first-served basis. The only exception to this is the Cape Summer Trail Series races held in the Silvermine Nature Reserve were entries are limited by National Parks to 250 in the Championship (LONG) course and 50 in the Challenge (SHORT) course.
  • Pre-entry online  - see race specific info for direct link to enter each relevant race.
  • Entry on the day may be available at some events, check the information details on each specific event. A late entry fee will be accounted for.
  • Entries are confirmed when payment is received. Those who don'tmake it in time will be placed on a waiting list
  • All Trail Series entrants will receive 20% off adidas voucher downloadable from www.trailseries.co.za (search for 'Voucher').  You can redeem this by taking the above voucher along with your Trail Series race number to any adidas store listed on the voucher. 

YOUR RACE OPTIONS ARE:

  1. Race and complete a minimum of three out of the four LONG races (or in the case of the Cape Summer Trail Series, four out of five) and compete for the Trail Series Championship for that particular series.
  2. Race and complete a minimum of three out of the four SHORT races (or in the case of the Cape Summer Trail Series, four out of five) and compete for the Trail Series Challenge for that particular series.
  3. Race any number of the SHORT races
  4. Race any number of LONG races
  5. Race any combination of individual races, LONG or SHORT

 

ROUTE & SAFETY

  • There will not necessarily be Marshals at road crossings. There will however be marshals at strategic places on the course for your safety. 
  • There is a race sweeper at each race that will run behind the last runner and will clean the course.
  • There will be Medics at each race to deal with any serious injury.
  • Highly recommended kit: Cell phone, 500ml water, Wind breaker,Whistle
  • If you decide to withdraw at any stage during any one of the races, please inform the race organiser timeously.
  • There will be no water points out on course, with the exception of the XL routes were there will be a single water point at roughly the half way mark.  Please ensure you take suitable hydration with you if needed, and were appropriate.
  • There will be toilets near/at the start/finish.

MEDALS, PRIZES & PRIZE GIVING

  • There are prizes for the top three in each respective category for each race and for the overall Championship and Challenge.
  • Prize giving will be done once all category prize runners have crossed the line.  The only exception to this is the Cape Summer Trail Series events that take place in the Silvermine Section of the Table Mountain National Park, were prize giving will be done at a time to ensure we exit the National Park at the time agreed on our event permit.
  • You must be present to collect your prize, or arrange to have someone collect on your behalf, otherwise your prize will be recycled as a spot prize.  
  • No prizes will be posted or kept aside to be collected at another time unless arranged directly with the Registration's manager on the day of the race, or in the case of the overall Series ahead of the final race.
  • Spot prizes are called by race number, and you must have your number with you to claim your prize.
  • Prize money for the top three in each Championship category for the overall Series is as follows:
    • 1st Open Male & Female (each) R600
    • 1st Veteran Male & Female (each) R500
    • 1st Master Male & Female (each) R400
  • Medals, or finishers prize, will be given to all runners completing either the Championship or Challenge.

WILDERNESS COURTESY

  • Be polite to other trail users
  • Stick to existing trails and do not take shortcuts
  • Do not litter
  • If you need to go during the race, please go at least 10m from the path.
  • No pets please
  • Don't be taking home any memorabilia from nature; it looks much better where it is!
  • If you wear a iPod while running, please keep it low enough that you can hear someone asking to pass!
  • To pass someone on a trail, ask.
